The stage of cancer is a number that determines how large the cancer is and how far it has spread from the orgin. Some cancers can’t be verified without conducting a biopsy, so a surgical procedure is necessary to take a sample of it, which is called a tumor.

What is a grade of cancer?

The grade of cancer is determined when the tumor is compared to healthy cells in the body. The lower the grade, the less aggressive the cancer is and the higher chance of treating and surviving it.

How many stages of cancer are there?

There are normally 4 stages of cancer. Stage 1 means the cancer is small and in one area, while stage 4 means it has spread to other parts of your body. Stage 2 and 3 means the cancer is larger and has begun to grow near the tumor. The only exception is stage 5, which isn’t normally used with most types of cancer.

This treatment is multipurpose, since doctors can use it to cure cancer, reduce the risk of cancer coming back, and shrink tumors. In the worst case scenario, this can be used to relieve cancer symptoms if curing it isn’t possible. However, it does come with side effects, the short term being numbness in your hands or feet, mouth sores, fatigue, nausea, hair loss, and constipation. The long term side effects may be damage to your heart, lungs, kidneys, and sexual organs.
